Window Restoration & Refurbishment

More often than not a window can be restored and enhanced rather than replaced. Repair is usually the first option to consider when seeking to maintain the character of a building. Sections of the frame that are no longer sound can be cut out and replaced. Where necessary the rebates can be routed out slightly to provide enough depth for replacement glazing units to be installed. Sashes can be freed, cords replaced and draught-proofing materials added discreetly.

By upgrading the glass to double glazing along with overhauling the window mechanisms and draft proofing them, we can bring your traditional windows up to modern standard in both thermal and acoustic efficiency.

As well as restoring your windows, we can also update and upgrade the hardware on them. We use high quality pulleys, fasteners, lifts, handles and locks in brass, polished chrome of satin chrome.

In addition to providing standard double glazing, for properties that have conservation standards to comply with we also offer "slimlite" double glazing which allows double glazing units to be accommodated in traditionally constructed windows with genuine slim glazing bars.

If security is a concern, we can install locking fasteners and vent locks.

Where neither standard or 'slimlite" double glazing is an option, we can provide secondary double glazing. If noise is an issue, we can also install acoustic glass.

We use parting and staff bead that incorporate draft excluder, thereby eliminating any drafts due to ill-fitting windows or parts.
